DIRECTOR OF NURSING

DIRECTOR OF CARE AND OPERATIONS

The primary purpose of the Director of Care and Operations (DOCO) is to direct the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern assisted living facilities to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times while upholding our Mission, Vision, and Core Values that overall represent faith, purpose, respect, and dignity to all we serve.

Job Functions

As DOCO, you are responsible for day-to-day clinical and administrative activities of the facility, including profit and loss responsibility and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. You will provide leadership, support, and direct supervision to all facility staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish financial and programmatic goals for the facility and conduct an annual evaluation of goal achievement.
  • Monitor monthly performance of facility in relation to the budget and intervene as needed.
  • Recruit, hire, and provide orientation/training for a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out facility programs and services.
  • Schedule regular meeting with direct report staff to provide supervision, ensure communication and to monitor facility operations.
  • Conduct and document annual performance evaluations on each direct report staff.
  • Maintain and guide the implementation of facility policies and procedures in compliance with corporate, state, federal, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Work closely with sales/marketing staff to set strategies for promotion and expansion of the facility's programs/services within the community.
  • Maintain a file for and monitor incident reports.
  • Ensure adequate preparation for, and participate in, regulatory compliance surveys.
  • Satisfaction surveys, turnover, and key indicator reports indicate that DOCO demonstrates a passion for caring towards employees, residents, families, visitors and the community at large.
  • Direct, & guide management staff in any/all areas requested and/or need assistance.

Job Requirements

  • Must be LPN, RN or have a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration
  • Advanced degree in a healthcare related field preferred but not required
  • Must possess demonstrated skills related to management, planning, budgeting, marketing and quality improvement.

SVAYUS DIRECTOR

The Activity/Svayus Director will plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Education/Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation or equivalent training/experience is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a setting serving the same age/type of resident served by this facility
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work alongside with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must have the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity services.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

SALES/MARKETING DIRECTOR

The Marketing/Admissions Director at the Lantern will be responsible for marketing and sales strategies to maximize occupancy, revenue, and resident retention goals by building a great networking relationship in and around the surrounding area and providing/participating in community events. In order to provide tourism towards our location to attract new clients. Sales activities will include providing tours, closing sales, community outreach, follow-up calling, attending and collaborating with outside resources to generate referrals and holding community and professional events at the facility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Visiting clients in the hospitals in order to establish and develop professional relationships with physicians, discharge planners, & social workers.
  • Educate the community about our facility.
  • Understand Assisted Living Waiver Program (Medicaid)
  • Provide tours
  • Make follow-up calls to all candidates who toured our facility
  • Responsible for monthly reports
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the community
  • Responsible to know and make the daily needs of the community at large with 55+ communities, senior centers, senior vendor fairs, chamber networking events etc.
  • Promote the facility and our services to referring agencies

Qualifications Include

Caregiver/ STNA

Reports to: Charge Nurse, or Director of nursing

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing clients with routine daily and restorative nursing care and services. Perform day to day activities of housekeeping and laundry in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, company policies and as may be directed by the DOCO and/or the DON, to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Ensure that the client’s needs are met while maintaining the highest degree of dignity.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES

  1. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADL’S) based on their individualized plan of care and in accordance with state and federal regulations and The Lanterns policies and procedures.
  2. Makes beds (occupied and unoccupied) and change bed linens.
  3. Keeps incontinent clients clean and dry per policy and client care plan.
  4. Assists clients in preparing for and activity and social programs.
  5. Assists clients in transporting them to/from appointments, activities, and social programs as necessary.
  6. Measures and records temperatures, pulse, and respirations as instructed.
  7. Answers client calls promptly and ensures that the clients who are unable to call for help are checked every hour.
  8. Informs the DOCO/DON/Charge nurse of any changes in the clients’ condition.
  9. Assists with the care of a dying client, and provides post-mortem care as instructed.
  10. Observes and reports the presence of skin breakdown.
  11. Provides daily indwelling catheter care and perineal care.
  12. Assists with the application of devices, slings, braces, etc.
  13. Prepares clients for meals (i.e. take to bathroom, wash hands, comb hair etc.).
  14. Serves food trays and assists with feeding as indicated (i.e. cutting foods, feeding, assist in dining room supervision).
  15. Serves between meal nourishments and bedtime snacks per facility schedule.
  16. Performs after meal care (i.e. remove trays, clean client hands, face, clothing, take to bathroom, brush teeth and/or dentures).
  17. Ensures that the clients suite is ready for receiving a new client (i.e. bed made, drawers/closets empty).
  18. Completes inventory, including marking personal possessions and clothing as instructed.
  19. Assists clients with packing their personal possessions when they are being transferred to a new suite or being discharged.
  20. May participate in clients’ care plan conference.
  21. Completes all RMS (resident management systems), service logs, and JIVE logs and any other required documentation by end of shift.
  22. Encourages a spirit of cooperation and teamwork with co-workers.
  23. Accurately and safely prepares, supervises administration of topical medications.
  24. Follows established guidelines concerning the storage of bio-medical waste.
  25. Reports a clients’ refusal of treatment or care to charge nurse or DON.
  26. Attends all mandatory state required in-services and all other facility meetings as instructed.
  27. Performs day-to-day laundry functions as needed, including but not limited to, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and delivery of clean linens to client’s rooms.
  28. Cleans laundry equipment per company policy, i.e. cleaning lint traps, etc.
  29. Assist with locating missing client items.
  30. Keeps supervisor informed of supply needs.
  31. Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
  32. Turns in all found articles to supervisor.
  33. Reports all complaints and grievances made by the clients to their immediate supervisor.
  34. Ensures that all OSHA and safety standards are followed, as applicable to the position and in the business location or workplace.
  35. Maintains a safe and clean work area and adheres to location/company safety standards for the healthcare professional.
  36. Complies with all Infection Control, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional in accordance with state and federal regulation and The Lanterns policies and procedures.
  37. Adheres to all location and company policy and procedures.
  38. Adheres to establish HIPPA confidentiality standards of client location information.
  39. Complies with all resident’s rights.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Complies with applicable legal requirement, standards, policies and procedures including but limited to those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct and HIPPA.
  2. Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required.
  3. Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance to supervisor.
  4. Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  2. Ability to respect clients including those who have impaired cognition.

PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Long-term experience preferred.
  2. Knowledge of restorative nursing preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  1. State Tested Nursing Assistant license preferred.
  2. CPR certification.
  3. First Aide certification.
